What does a foot massage include?
Work through the arch, heel and the small muscles of the foot, plus the calf, since calf tightness is usually part of why feet ache.
Your therapist uses thumb pressure and stretching through the ankle.
Why do your feet hurt after walking in Medellín?
The hills, mostly. Walking Poblado or the city centre means constant incline and decline, which loads the calves and the arches differently than flat walking does.
Visitors who have been out all day tend to feel it in the arches. People who work standing feel it more in the heels.
How is this different from reflexology?
Reflexology works pressure points on the foot with the aim of affecting other parts of the body. Our foot massage is straightforward muscular work on the feet and calves themselves.
If your feet hurt, this is the one you want.
What does it pair well with?
A full body Swedish or deep tissue session, since the feet often get the least time in a standard massage.
Compression boots are the other natural pairing if your legs are swollen as well as sore, particularly after a long flight.
How long does it take?
Our foot massage add-on runs roughly fifteen to twenty minutes on top of your session.
Who should avoid a foot massage?
If you have an open wound, a foot infection, a recent fracture, diabetes with reduced sensation in the feet, or a blood clotting condition, talk to your doctor before booking. Let us know when you arrive so your therapist can adjust.
