SPORTS MASSAGE

Sports Massage in El Poblado, Medellín

Sports massage is built around the muscle groups you actually use. Your therapist works the areas that take load during training, using a mix of pressure, stretching, and movement to speed up recovery.

Sessions run 60, 90, or 120 minutes in a private room with a licensed therapist.

What is sports massage?

Sports massage combines deep pressure with assisted movement and stretching, targeted at the muscles under the most load from your activity. A runner and a climber get different sessions. Tell your therapist what you train and what is bothering you, and they will build the session around it.

When should you get a sports massage?

After training rather than immediately before. A deep session leaves muscles temporarily looser and slightly fatigued, which is not what you want an hour before an event. If you are training regularly, a session every one to two weeks keeps ahead of accumulated tightness.

How soon after a workout can you get a massage?

Same day is fine, and a few hours after training is a good window. If you are badly sore from an unusually hard session, waiting a day makes the massage more comfortable and no less effective.

What is the difference between sports massage and deep tissue?

Both use firm pressure. Sports massage adds stretching and movement, and it is organized around your activity rather than around where tension happens to have built up. If you train, book sports massage. If you are tight from daily life and desk work, book deep tissue.

Is sports massage only for athletes?

No. The techniques work for anyone whose body takes repetitive load, which includes hikers, cyclists, people who lift casually, and anyone recovering from a physically demanding trip.

What pairs well with a sports massage?

Cold plunge and compression boots are the two most common additions. Compression boots work on circulation in the legs and pair naturally with a lower body focused session. Contrast therapy is worth considering if you are managing recovery across a heavy training block.

Who should avoid sports massage?

If you have an acute injury, a recent fracture, or are recovering from surgery, talk to your doctor before booking. Let us know about any injuries or medical conditions when you arrive so your therapist can adjust the treatment.
