CUPPING THERAPY
Cupping Therapy in El Poblado, Medellín
Cupping uses suction to lift the tissue rather than press into it. Glass or silicone cups are placed on the skin and draw the muscle upward, which reaches tension that direct pressure sometimes cannot.
We offer it as an add-on to any massage at 50,000 COP.

What does cupping therapy do?
The suction pulls blood toward the surface and separates the layers of tissue underneath. That decompression does the opposite of what a thumb or elbow does, which is why it can reach tightness that has not responded to regular massage.
Most people book it for upper back and shoulder tension.
Does cupping leave marks?
Usually yes. Round marks are normal and they are not bruises in the ordinary sense, since nothing was struck. They come from blood drawn toward the surface and they fade over three to seven days.
Darker marks generally mean more congestion in that area. If you have an event coming up, tell your therapist and they can work somewhere less visible or skip it.
Does cupping hurt?
It feels strange more than painful. A strong pulling sensation rather than pressure, and most people find it oddly relaxing once they get used to it.
Tell your therapist if the suction is too strong. It can be adjusted or the cup can be moved.
How is cupping different from a deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue pushes into the muscle. Cupping pulls it up. They work on the same problem from opposite directions, which is why they pair well in one session.
If you have tried deep tissue and a particular area never quite releases, cupping is worth adding.
What should you do after cupping?
Drink water and avoid a hot shower, a sauna or the cold plunge for a few hours. The tissue has just been decompressed and it responds better to being left alone.
Some tenderness the next day is normal.
Who should avoid cupping?
Cupping is not right for everyone. If you take blood thinners, have a blood clotting disorder, are pregnant, or have a skin condition or open wound in the area, talk to your doctor before booking. Let us know about any medical conditions when you arrive.
